ANSWERED PRAYER

Boom! Bang! Crash! Lightning and thunder struck the small house up in the mountain village of Dampaan.  Then followed the strange light coming from heaven penetrating the small house of an old couple in this mountain village, in answer to an old man’s prayer.

 

It was 7:30 p.m. on a Friday evening.  An old man 63 years of age and his wife had been living in this village all their lives.  They were  economically poor and striving for their food each day was a regular uncertain economic crisis.  It was worse this time for his wife was sick, suffering from an unknown and complicated combination of illnesses.  The old man had tried all the remedies he knew, and now he did not know what to do so his wife would recover her health.  Now he knew his wife was about to die, and as a last resort the old man turned to God and prayed!

 

And the answer was sudden and unexpected – the crash and the boom of the lightning and the thunder striking at the foot of the old man’s house!  The old man trembled with fear and in surprise for this was unexpected, specially since it was summertime.  But then a strange occurrence followed amidst this for a strange brightness from heaven came.  This light from heaven entered their house when he opened one of the two small windows of their home, with this light shining directly where his poor wife lay struggling between life and death.

Then the old man saw the face of his God together with His angels singing the song entitled “Spirit song” a song then unknown to him as he was not a Christian believer, much less a Seventh-day Adventist.  And then he was amazed for his wife came to life, asking for food to eat and water to drink.  That Saturday morning marked the total healing of his wife.  The old man was speechless, and overjoyed with this unexpected turn of events attributing it to the light in answer to his prayer.

Not long after this, as he  visited around during moments of loneliness, he happened to pass by a church gathering of the Seventh-day Adventist believers in the village.  He decided to stop and observe their meeting and listen to the singing which he enjoyed.  While  listening, he was struck with the familiarity of the song he was hearing.  Then he realized it was the song when the great light from heaven shone on his home after the thunder and lightning when he prayed and asked God for the healing of his wife.  He was awed for this was the same song sung by the Angels of heaven that came with the strange light.

This experience gave way for the compelling power of the Holy spirit to join the group of Seventh-day Adventist believers.  Now he is one of the active members of the church in Dampaan Church, Concepcion, Valencia, Bukidnon.  A sincere prayer, a pure heart yearning for help, God answered the prayer as promised in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not”.  This promise of the Lord was confirmed again in this thunder and lightning experience seven years ago for Arsenio Divinagracia Sobretodo and his wife Tata, April 14, 1989.
