Born on the Trail
Dampaan Mission School

It was 4:00 o’clock in the morning and it was a joyful dawn for a pregnant woman and her companion to prepare sweet potatoes to be delivered to the nearest barrio.  They walked happily and it takes 1 ½ hour hike going down with their heavy loads which we think it’s very hard for a pregnant woman to carry more or less twenty kilos of sweet potatoes but because of poverty they oblique to do such things.  After buying their needs they went back to Dampaan at 11:00 o’clock in the morning.   It was a sunny day carrying their loads going up to the mountain and she felt stomachache for she was almost to deliver that baby.  Then they look rest in the cottage beside the trail.  A child was delivered there with the help of an inexperienced woman.  After delivering her companion went ahead for assistance leaving the woman with the small boy – she told a small boy to find a bamboo stick to cut the cord of the newly born baby.  After a few minute She took her baby and walk slowly going up to their home.  They are happy with their children though the are poor.
